response to the road to magic

                              The road to magic

                                                by  Alexey Glushnavosky

In this book oleg davidov started off as some one who was shrewd, cold and mean to every one one but as time went on through the book he changed he became someone who cared for everyone and didn't want to lose any of his friends or family. This books main characters are oleg, atlaletta, clairene, and olaf.
Over time this group develops to become a family even if each has there own secrets.

Despite each character having major flaws they each deal with it. Oleg is a really complex character he had  a big character change over this book.At first oleg acted as if he didn't need anyone  and he didn't care for anyone but deep down he did.He was a loner at heart or so he thought but things turned out differently then expected when he found a book that  he felt compelled to read it was of magic in a different language that he could read. This book transported him to  world where he found a goddess who helped him but made him a demon. In the start of this book oleg hates the goddess for changing him into a monster and making him get summoned by some princess in need of help. The only reason hes going on this journey is cause hes stuck on this world. At first hes cold to the group he travels with then he starts to warm up to them beginning to enjoy being round them.He still hasn't told them about his secret of being half human and demon.Hes still a little harsh to everyone when he feels hes getting to close to the group or when he feels like hes falling in love with
atlaletta. In the end he grows to treat them like brother and sister but then he still hasn't told them his secret
of being  a demon and half human. In the end they all had to separate but oleg met back up with a minor character who's also going to the  academy.

At first atlaetta treats oleg as if he were a piece of trash. She treats everyone in the group like this for a while. At first atlaetta followed the stereotypical princess of having to make everyone do everything for her but after a while everything changes when there attacked by a group of bandits and everyone has to surrender because they were outnumbered and beat and she realizes shes no help in  a fight and cant do much to help everyone. After the group is saved she treats everyone one differently and starts to fool useless and she feels guilty for how she treats oleg. Clairene at first was very nice person who didn't want to harm anyone but she needed  the money. Clairene was the mage of the group they were told by her that she was a experienced mage but the second she got into a battle she just paralyzed people but refused to kill. They soon realized that she was not a battle mage because she had never been in any battles and killed anyone. They tried to convince that it was other people attacking them and they couldn't just try to negotiate when they were in battle they would get killed. Then atlaetta got taken by the throat and a bandit put a knife up to her throat and said if anyone moved they would kill atlaetta. SheShe was so mad at her self for not trying to help before so instead she shot the man with a paralyses spell and moved atlaetta out of the way and killed him. After time she changed she was ready for anything anyone could throw at her.

In this book olaf and oleg  are completely different people however they do have a few things in common.common. Oleg enjoys the thrill of the fight and he doesn't need to be forced to fight but just does.Olaf on the other hand hates to fight unless he absolutely has to fight. Oleg is cheerful and always full of energy and is always optimistic. While on the other hand Oleg is pessimistic and is usually never  really happy because he misses home but he has to put on a fake smile of happiness. The things have in commmon are not alot. They both love the sports of this world. They both want to make sure there group gets through all the trials ahead. They also both fell in love with atlaetta.

In this book Oleg is the opposite  of the usual happy lucky hero who turns out to win and all enemy are defeated while losing no one of real importance to the main character. He loses almost all the friends he had to the last army they fought and swore vengeance against the villain who leads this army.Despite the book having some major flaws it was still pretty good.i think that author was trying to put across even the smallest things can make the biggest changes.
